Louise Shriane

From an early age, Louise harboured an unwavering love for dance, a flame that still burns brightly within her. After training at the Arts Educational School in Tring Park she realized a life pursuing fame and fortune was not for her and returned to Stourbridge to study for A Levels at King Edwards College, determined to carve her own path.

This led Louise to enter the world of retail management, working with a well-known supermarket chain. She then studied Mental Health Nursing, achieving a 1st Class Honours and specialising in CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services).

For over two decades, Lou has been an integral part of Brook Street recruitment. Gill Cole

Gill started working for the Local Education Authority in 1972, starting as Office Junior in the Sites & Buildings Section for Warley Council, providing administration and secretarial support. As Sandwell Council was formed, she moved to the Personnel Department, supporting newly qualified teachers, then the Careers office -helping young school leavers into employment, leaving in 1982 to start a family.

Returning to Sandwell Schools Advisory Service in January 1989 allowed Gill to develop her skills across various roles. In 2000 she was appointed as PA to the School Improvement Director supporting the other School Improvement Advisers, dealing with Ofsted Inspections, training courses and conferences, support for Newly Qualified Teachers and the Musical Instrument resale scheme. She then joined the ‘Building Schools For the Future’ project as their Senior Project Officer and Data Officer, gaining a different set of skills from the procurement process, managing the actual build and then continuing with the facilities management once the schools were complete.

Retiring somewhat early, Gill had intended to take on some part time voluntary work, but family commitments made that difficult, so she is delighted that 9 years and 3 grandchildren later she can now do exactly that for such a worthwhile cause and bring some of her varied experience and expertise to the team. She is incredibly proud of her son Ben, and is delighted to be able to support the cause they both passionately believe in.

A keen tap dancer, and aerobics enthusiast, nobody knows the value of physical exercise in the field of mental health better than Gill, and she credits it for helping to get her through difficult times in her life, and she has now added Zumba to her impressive list of skills.

Diane Spencer

Diane blames her music and English teachers at High Arcal Grammar School for an awful lot of what has happened since. She was introduced to the delights of Shakespeare and Bernstein, beginning a life-long love affair with performance.

During a 15 -year career as a cryogenic heat transfer and fluid flow engineer at IMI Marston, she met her husband, Dennis, left to be a full time Mum to Elizabeth, taking a part time personnel management course, then a teaching degree in CDT.

She joined Tettenhall College in 1988, first teaching CDT, and then as ICT co-ordinator and data manager. She has written online teaching resources and text books for KS3, GCSE and A level for the publisher Nelson Thornes. She also acted as a subject expert and qualification scrutineer for QCA and Ofqual.

Her daughter Elizabeth joined WYMT in 2000 and Diane offered to make props for their second production, On Your Toes, fell under the beguiling spell of the incomparable Lesley Woodyer, and the rest is history. The devastating loss of Lesley made her determined to keep the company going, and the joy that WYMT has given to her is beyond measure. Dennis also loved to see young people doing the things they enjoy, making props and costumes for so many shows, the highlight of which must be Milky White, the Into the Woods cow. Between them they made human size eggs, disappearing chocolate cakes, a breakaway jacket for a stripping frog and sundry other delights. On the way they met the most delightful and talented young people it is possible to imagine. Bedazzle was a natural companion for WYMT, and Diane was honoured to be invited to act as a Board member at this exciting time in the development of the charity and looks forward seeing its growth within the community.
